FHM vs. Playboy Round 6

September 16, 2008

It’s that time of the month again when I give my comments on FHM and Playboy. And since medyo matagal na since nakabili ako ng copies nung dalawang magazine, this post is long overdue. Anyway, this is FHM vs. Playboy, Round 5. Fight!

Unang department, covergirl and covershoot. FHM has Iwa Moto and Playboy, Jaymee Joaquin. I’ll be honest, I am not really a fan of Iwa Moto nor do I find her sexy in anyway. Okay, given na she has the bumper, but in my books, she isn’t just that hot. Jaymee Joaquin, on the other hand, is the type I see as sexy. Not too out there, pero there’s still this certain quality that keeps me on taking a peek at her. So I guess I’ll give this one to Playboy, for the fact that I find Ms. Joaquin better than Ms. Moto. And besides, FHM is recycling a babe in this one because Iwa have already appeared on the cover tow years ago, which I didn’t like also.

Second department, other girls. Again, I think I will give this one to Playboy for the fact that FHM seemed to have lost their touch on finding gems. What they did is recycle another girl that they used last month. It’s this some tennis pro who is half-Filipina and is currently in the country for training or something. She already appeared on last month’s Incoming, and yet they put her again. Though Playboy also did that this month, I mean re-using girls that already appeared in previous issues, they manage to use two as compared to FHM’s one. I also didn’t like the Playmate of the Month because she’s really not that pretty, but she’s definitely showing some nips in there so I still have to give that a point. This is actually a good sign for Playboy because they are already starting to warm up by showing more and more every month. I just hope that in the coming months, we’ll get to see MORE!!!

Third department, articles and write-ups. Okay, I’ll give this one to FHM for the mere fact that they have a feature on some of the best steakhouses in the Metro. I have to say that it was really informative and because of that article, I guess I’ll have to lose some money because I wanna try some of their recommended restos. As for Playboy, I still don’t get why they keep on wasting pages upon pages with that goddamn long interview portion. Though there really interesting stuff in that part of the magazine, I think they can just cut it short instead of their usual 6-10 pages of pure boring text! I also didn’t like the 20 Questions with Felipe Gozon because I hate network TV! hahaha!

So there it is! I guess this month goes to Playboy. But may I say, they still have to do far more to be at least equal to the American version of the magazine, which as we all know, is the best damn gentlemen’s magazine in the fucking world. So keep it up, Playboy dudes!

Doing it old school with a post-Beatles Lennon gem…

God

God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I’ll say it again,
God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I don’t believe in magic,
I don’t believe in I-ching,
I don’t believe in bible,
I don’t believe in tarot,
I don’t believe in Hitler,
I don’t believe in Jesus,
I don’t believe in Kennedy,
I don’t believe in Buddha,
I don’t believe in mantra,
I don’t believe in Gita,
I don’t believe in yoga,
I don’t believe in kings,
I don’t believe in Elvis,
I don’t believe in Zimmerman,
I don’t believe in Beatles,
I just believe in me,
Yoko and me,
And that’s reality.
The dream is over,
What can I say?
The dream is over,
Yesterday,
I was dreamweaver,
But now I’m reborn,
I was the walrus,
But now I’m John,
And so dear friends,
You just have to carry on,
The dream is over.
